The Maine International Film Festival is one of the most popular and fastest growing events in New England. Featuring over 100 films, 50 filmmakers and special guests from around the globe, MIFF is 10 days of cinematic heaven for film buffs young and old.
Each year MIFF recognizes a new film industry icon with a 'Mid-Life' or 'Lifetime' achievement award. Key contributors of the independent film industry provide a forum for panel discussions, informal Q&A sessions and an authentic glimpse into the art of cinema. MIFF's special guests have included Mid-Life Achievement winners John Turturro (2008), Bud Cort (2007), Walter Hill (2006), Lil Taylor ("Pre" Mid-Life Achievement Award Honoree), Ed Harris (2004), Peter Fonda (2003), Jonathan Demme (2002), Sissy Spacek (2001), Terrence Malick (2000) and Jos Stelling (1999.)
